Calvary Chapel is an independent Bible-believing church. We invite you to come worship with us as we learn from the Bible and enjoy God’s grace together.

Home > Night in Bethlehem

Free trip to Israel! What? Are you kidding? Hey, who needs to pay all that expensive airfare? Just get in your car and travel down the road to Calvary Chapel for A Night in Bethlehem. You will be taken on a tour of first century Bethlehem. We've rebuilt the city of Bethlehem as it might have looked the very night Jesus was born.

You will be greeted outside by shepherds watching over their flock of live sheep. They will guide you inside where you must register, by order of Caesar, with the Roman census taker and his EVIL assistant — a Roman centurion! A kindly “tour guide” will then take you downstairs into the city of Bethlehem.

As you wander the winding street and alley ways, many surprises await you! Watch out for the camels — they spit! (Actually they are life-size camel puppets. The “spit” is water from a squirt gun held by the obnoxious, but harmless, camel salesmen. We have beggars, lepers, all sorts of vendors “selling” first century merchandise, rabbis, prophets, a very weary innkeeper, and of course, a live nativity scene.

There are many other surprises in store, but we'll just have to keep that a secret until you come.

The tour takes about 20 minutes. There is NO admission fee. Dress is casual. Plenty of refreshments are served to all at the end of the tour.
